Continence Care Nurse Specialist Course CONT581

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

 

The purpose of this Activity is to:

1.  Provide educational experiences to prepare the bachelor’s prepared nurse (and beyond) to practice as a Continence Care Nurse Specialist at an entry level in all care settings.

2.  Provide access to a curriculum delivered by experienced online educators who are also Board Certified as a Continence Care Nurse Specialists.

3.  Increase the number of Continence Care Nurse Specialists providing specialty care across the health care settings.

4.  Provide patients with evidence-based continence care.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This course focuses on the care of the client in all care settings who has fecal and/or urinary incontinence.  Specifically, the participant will gain knowledge of transient versus permanent incontinence as well as approaches to manage both.  Classification of the types of urinary incontinence will be described and treatment identified.  Risk assessment, prevention, identification and management of the incontinence problem will be included.  Knowledge will be presented in order to improve the nurse’s knowledge and care of patients with bowel and bladder incontinence issues.
