EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY:

Wound Care Specialist Experiential CE Pathway: WND582

PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY:

 

The purpose of this Activity is to:

1.       Provide educational experiences to prepare nurses or non-nurses who are experienced in wound care to be eligible to take a wound care certification exam and practice as a Wound Care Specialist at an entry level in all care settings.

2.       Provide access to a curriculum delivered by experienced online educators who are also Board Certified as Skin and Wound Care Nurse Specialists.

3.       Increase the number of Skin and Wound Care Specialists providing specialty care across the health care settings.

Provide patients with evidence-based skin and wound care.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

This course focuses on the care of the client across the lifespan who may be at risk for skin breakdown, who has a break in skin integrity or who has an existing wound.  Specifically, learners will gain knowledge of the etiology, differential diagnoses, clinical findings and management options of the wounds or skin complications affecting these groups.  Focus will also be on the adept skill of obtaining a physical assessment and health history, incorporating data from diagnostic tests, and documentation of assessments and evaluations to attain optimal client outcomes.
